Two heroes honored in Morong

As an expression of gratitude for their bravery during the World War II, the Municipal Government of Morong headed by Mayor Cynthia Estanislao, honored two of their veterans, Capt. Esperanza Angeles Tunaya (Posthumous) and Pvt Cipriano Villanueva Florendo; in addition to having already been awarded the prestigious US Congressional Medal for their courageous acts.

The Recognition Ceremony, according to Mayor Cynthia Estanislao, is one of their activities in relation to the 83rd Anniversary Celebration of Araw ng Kagitingan, a significant event that commemorates the valor of Filipino and American soldiers who fought against the Japanese forces during World War II.

Capt. Esperanza Angeles Tunaya and Pvt. Cipriano Villanueva Florendo were among the Bataan War Veterans who were recognized by the United States of America for their exceptional valor and bravery during World War II.
